The Three Bears Cottage

During the month of November we have read many different versions of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. We have been using this tale to help us become better at re-telling stories. Good readers are able to re-tell stories: stating the important events, the characters, and the setting. The children have enjoyed re-telling this favourite story by visiting our house centre.

We're Going On a Bear Hunt!

This week we will be exploring the picture book, We're Going on a Bear Hunt. We will be reading it several times; re-telling it; creating music to accompany it; and creating drama to re-tell it.

Sparky comes to visit!

Thank you to Fireman Doug and Sparky who came to visit last Thursday. They taught us about the difference between tools and toys; the importance of having a fire safety plan and how to stop, drop and roll.

The Great Pumpkin Patch!

Last Wednesday we visited the Great Pumpkin Patch at Bry-Anne Farms. We had a wonderful time at the farm, despite the wet and cold weather. Thank you to our wonderful parent volunteers who helped us make this trip possible.

Pumpkin Patch Read Alouds

This week we will be reading books about pumpkins; life-cycles of pumpkins; and pumpkin patches.

Turkey Soup Math

Our sensory table has changed for the month of October. The children are busy 'cooking' at the sensory table. We have foam pieces of onion, celery, mushrooms, carrot and turkey; water; a turkey baster; measuring spoons; and serving dishes. The children are able to create a delicious turkey soup while counting, sorting and measuring. Math fun!
