A tea party for Mrs. Claus

Our water table has been transformed into a tea party for Mrs. Claus! The children are able to measure; pour; sort and count while they create 'yummy' peppermint tea or cocoa for the guests at the tea party.

December at the Science Table

The children are viewing a variety of items at the Science table this month. We are using magnifying lenses to view pine boughs; pine needles; pine cones and a section from a pine stump.

Santa's workshop

This week the house centre has been transformed into Santa's workshop. The children can play in the role of elves or reindeer. There are costumes to wear (tool belts or antlers) and tools to use. The children are busy fixing up toys and writing letters to other kids. Ho! Ho! Ho!

The Three Bears Cottage

During the month of November we have read many different versions of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. We have been using this tale to help us become better at re-telling stories. Good readers are able to re-tell stories: stating the important events, the characters, and the setting. The children have enjoyed re-telling this favourite story by visiting our house centre.

We're Going On a Bear Hunt!

This week we will be exploring the picture book, We're Going on a Bear Hunt. We will be reading it several times; re-telling it; creating music to accompany it; and creating drama to re-tell it.

Sparky comes to visit!

Thank you to Fireman Doug and Sparky who came to visit last Thursday. They taught us about the difference between tools and toys; the importance of having a fire safety plan and how to stop, drop and roll.

The Great Pumpkin Patch!

Last Wednesday we visited the Great Pumpkin Patch at Bry-Anne Farms. We had a wonderful time at the farm, despite the wet and cold weather. Thank you to our wonderful parent volunteers who helped us make this trip possible.
